Swallow Control
When we thing of a pest bird, we don't always think of swallow control. But swallows can be quite the problem and require some very specific means of control Considerations:
- Swallows have special protection under law, which means that you CANNOT DISTURB A SWALLOW'S NEST ONCE THEY LAY EGGS. You must remove their nests in winter time after they have left for warmer climates. That's when proper control methods should be implemented.
- Because of the limited window of opportunity, you want to be sure you have the correct swallow control plan figured out beforehand. You'll want purchase all necessary products ahead of time so you can clean up the mess and implement your control program as soon as they leave. If you don't get it right, you'll have to live with the problem for another year before you can take another shot at it.
- Swallows will build their nests on (or even in) most any man-made structure. They build these nests with mud as a binder. The mud can destroy the paint, finish or even surface of a structure.
- They particularly enjoy nesting close to a water source and up, under the eaves of a building.
